Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Diaosu, Urt Moron Township, Golmud, Qinghai. It was named by the No. 1 Geological Party of Qinghai in 1975.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Light-gray thick-bedded oolitic limestone, bioclastic limestone and organic limestone, with dolomitic bioclastic limestone, and thin-bedded fine-grained sandstone and pebbled quartzose sandstone at the bottom, 178.5 m thick. At places such as Haerzhagou on the north slope of the Kunlun Mts. southwest of Mangnai, Lawuzhagou and Yemaquan, its bottom is formed by conglomerate, sandstone and shale, and the upper part consists of limestone, thickness ~136 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Disconformable contact with the underlying Daganggou Fm. At places such as the north slope of the Kunlun Mts. southwest of Mangnai, Lawuzhagou and Yemaquan, it is in disconformable contact with the underlying Xihansitegou Fm

Upper contact

Conformable contact with the overlying Sijiaoyanggou Fm.

Fossils

Lower part contains Fusulinids Pseudostafella antiqua posterior, etc. as well as corals Arachnastraea asiatica, etc. The Upper part contains fusulinids Fusulina absidata, etc..

At places such as the north slope of the Kunlun Mts. southwest of Mangnai, Lawuzhagou and Yemaquan, it yields fusulinids Profusulinella, Fusulinella, etc.
